Rod Doyle, CPA
Partner, CEO
Rod Doyle is the Founder and CEO of Plugged-IN CPA Accounting and Tax, where he combines his expertise and passion for business to lead the firm. After earning his BBA from the University of New Brunswick and completing his CPA designation, along with the CPA In-Depth Tax Course, Rod has become known for his advanced knowledge of accounting and tax. Prior to founding Plugged-IN CPA, he spent nearly 13 years with a public practice firm, gaining a wealth of experience across diverse accounting and tax areas.

As a leader, Rod drives the Plugged-IN CPA team to continually innovate, providing clients with accurate, timely financial information and modern tools to navigate complex business and tax matters. His deep knowledge and proactive approach empower him to make strategic decisions that benefit both the firm and its clients.
​
Rod founded Plugged-IN CPA to empower business owners with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive, addressing even the most challenging issues with clarity and expertise.
​
Outside of work, Rod enjoys spending time with friends and family and coaching hockey.
Alana Nicklin, CPA
Partner, COO
Alana Nicklin serves as Partner and COO at Plugged-IN CPA, where she brings a client-first approach and strong leadership to the firm. After earning her CPA designation from the CPA Atlantic School of Business and completing her BBA at the University of New Brunswick (majoring in accounting with a minor in economics and a concentration in finance), Alana has become an integral part of Plugged-IN CPA's growth and client success.

In her role, Alana manages an extensive portfolio of clients, overseeing their accounting, tax, and advisory services while directing the firm’s operations. She is passionate about creating streamlined processes and systems for both Plugged-IN and her clients, making it easier for them to stay on top of their finances and focus on growing their businesses.
​
Previously, Alana worked as a manager at a local public practice firm specializing in audit and advisory, where she developed a strong foundation in financial services and client-focused solutions. This experience, combined with her expertise at Plugged-IN CPA, enables her to deliver high-quality, customized support to her clients.
​
Outside of work, Alana enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, or embarking on new travel adventures.

Mike McSorley, CPA
Senior Consultant
Mike is a Senior Consultant at Plugged-IN CPA, where he brings his extensive knowledge in accounting and business administration to guide clients in their financial decisions. He graduated with honors from his Bachelor of Business Administration program, majoring in accounting and economics, and has completed both his CPA designation and MBA.
​
In his role, Mike spends most of his time on-site with larger clients, assisting them with key business decisions and acting in a part-time CFO capacity. His industry experience and in-depth understanding of finance equip him to provide clients with actionable insights on complex financial and operational matters.

Trina VanTassel, PCP
Manager, Payroll
Trina holds a Business Administration diploma with a specialization in Accounting from NBCC and has earned the Professional Leadership (PLP) designation through the National Payroll Institute. With several years of experience in both management and payroll roles, she brings a wealth of knowledge to our team.
​
Proficient in a variety of payroll systems, Trina values the simplicity and efficiency of cloud-based platforms like Wagepoint and Humi. She is passionate about delivering the best experience for both clients and their employees, working diligently to modernize our payroll department and ensure it aligns with the rest of our service offerings.
​
Whether it’s guiding clients through a cloud payroll transition and training so they can run payroll on their own or offering full-cycle payroll, Trina and her team ensure that remittances are filed automatically, staff receive direct deposits, and internal processes are streamlined for ease and efficiency.
